Hey folks! Welcome back
This week’s topic will be on ICD (instructional courseware design). Remember its ICD, not OCD
ICD is creating instructional materials to make language acquisition more appealing and effective. Basically make a courseware to make learning fun! Now ICD consists of these two theories.
- Behaviorist Theory: Deals mainly on learners’ behaviour towards the given stimulus.
- Constructivist Theory: Learners build their knowledge on specific subjects based upon their prior knowledge. Learners are required to engage and be responsible of their own learning.
Instructional Design is creating the material/lesson to help the learners. As the designer, they must analyze the students’ needs. ISD involves the following:
- creation of syllabus
- planning of lessons
- material selection and adaptation
- planning of implementation and intervention
As ISD in CALL, I mentioned before that it is the usage of computer in the lesson. It can only act as support to the lessons and not as a complete replacement of teachers in class.
Next stop is PLATO. Not Plato the philosopher, but PLATO - Programmed Logic for Automated Teaching Operations (1960 – 2006).
It was the first computer assisted instruction system and it can be programmed to teach any course. But it was hella expensive
Lastly is ADDIE
*side note this name is so weird cause it was my ex’s nickname and he was
Anyway………….
ADDIE is a framework for the developmental of instructional coursework.
thank you for reading !
